Corporate Image

Corporate image is the mental picture that springs up at the mention of a firm's name. This image continually changes with the firm's circumstances, media coverage, performance, pronouncements, etc. It is similar to a firm's reputation or goodwill, it is the public perception of the firm rather than the reflection of its actual state or position. Unlike corporate identity, it can change overnight from positive to negative to neutral or the reverse.

Large firms use various corporate advertising techniques to enhance their image in order to improve their desirability as a supplier, employer, customer, borrower, etc because corporate image is designed to be appealing to the public so that the company can spark an interest among consumers, create share of mind, generate brand equity and thus facilitate product sales.

The Nature of Corporate Image

It is the opinion of consumers, clients, partners and the public about the prestige of the company, quality of its goods and services and even the reputation of heads of the company combines to form the image of a company or brand. Corporate image, describes the manner in which a company, its activities, and its products or services are perceived by outsiders. In today's competitive business climate, many companies actively work to create and communicate a positive image to their customers, shareholders, the financial community, and the general public to achieve one thing, influencing purchase decision, thereby increasing the bottom line of the company.

Building A Corporate Image

To acquire a corporate image, some factors should be taking into account. First is the corporate policy of the company. The policies of a company determines the line of actions the company is likely to take to help it compete in the market space. The company is free to take any decision to make its products and services easy and affordable to every consumer. From this perception, one can deduce that corporate policy comes in to play an important role in the formation of a corporate image.

Just as corporate policy is an important factor, so is corporate cultures, our second factor. Corporate cultures are the norms and values that the company takes up while serving the consumers with their products and services. This aspect of the corporate image is very essential for the company to maintain a high and a world class service to its customers. Their chief motto is the satisfaction of the customers from whom they derive their main income including their profit and the fame of corporate organization.

The third factor is, organizational design which refers to the structure of the company from its management level to its front line staff is also a factor that cannot be left out in building a corporate image. Organizational design also ensures and encompasses the inter-personal relationship among the members of the staff of the company from the top level to the bottom level. It includes the various departments of the company which offer their services to the customers in a united manner.

FEEDBACK
Feedback is essential to the management of corporate image. Business owners and managers need accurate information on how they and their company are perceived if they are to make sound decisions. Ideally, feedback should be continuous. As a practical matter, continuous feedback can be elicited from salespeople, clients, employees, and other local business owners. Based on such input, modifications may be made in the company's communication methods or, if warranted, a formal study of the corporate image may be initiated. In addition to systematically utilizing internal sources, it is prudent to undertake a serious review of the business's reputation (both internally and externally) on a regular basis.

Society's growing expectation that corporations be socially responsible is a factor stimulating the current interest in corporate image. Many of today's consumers consider the environmental and social image of the firms in making their purchasing decisions. Some companies have recognized this reality and reaped tremendous benefits by conducting themselves in socially and environmentally responsible manner.

It takes time, energy and money to create and maintain a positive corporate image. In a corporate world, maintaining a good company image is key.

Global Challenges

The collapse of global financial markets have impeded economic growth and employment in developing countries. Widespread job losses has increased unemployment and pushed more workers into low-income occupations and working poverty. The declines in family and government revenue have affected children’s access to health services. This in turn has made children more vulnerable to mortality and morbidity. The economic slowdown has resulted in lower government earnings and revenues and a corresponding shrinking in the fiscal space available for public investments. While needing to help newly vulnerable populations, reductions in these and other revenues have reduced government’s capacity to fund crisis responses and maintain basic services such as health and education.

Increased efforts to generate employment will be an essential component of an effective response to the global recession in almost all developing countries. Keeping people in work, even on minimal incomes, helps to maintain essential household purchases and promotes social stability.

As government revenues decline it will be important to focus limited resources on essential health, education, and economic infrastructure services. Maintaining and increasing aid spending in education and health will have a positive impact on societies most vulnerable. It will, for example, reduce the pressures on children to leave school. Such assistance will also have an impact on the longer-term human capacity in developing countries by minimising serious regression or lags in basic education for the current generation of children.

The need for policy and regulatory reform to address the causes of the global recession is widely recognised. The global recession provides both an opportunity and a rationale to move more quickly to address overdue reforms, in areas as diverse as financial regulation, trade, competition and public sector improvement.

The recession is a global challenge requiring global solutions.

Back Pain

Back Pain - Also called: Backache, Lumbago
Back pain is one of the most common medical problems, affecting 8 out of 10 people at some point during their lives. Back pain can range from a dull, constant ache to a sudden, sharp pain. Acute back pain comes on suddenly and usually lasts from a few days to a few weeks. Back pain is called chronic if it lasts for more than three months.
Symptoms

Symptoms of back pain may include:

  • Muscle ache
  • Shooting or stabbing pain
  • Pain that radiates down your leg
  • Limited flexibility or range of motion of your back
  • Inability to stand straight

Causes

Your back is an intricate structure composed of bones, muscles, ligaments, tendons and disks. Disks are the cartilage-like pads that act as cushions between the segments of your spine. Back pain can arise from problems with any of these component parts. In some people, no specific cause for their back pain can be found.

Strains
Back pain most often occurs:

  • From strained muscles and ligaments
  • From improper or heavy lifting
  • After a sudden awkward movement

Sometimes a muscle spasm can cause or be associated with back pain.

Structural problems
In some cases, back pain may be caused by structural problems, such as:

  • Bulging or ruptured disks. Disks act as cushions between the vertebrae in your spine. Sometimes, the soft material inside a disk may bulge out of place or rupture and press on a nerve. But even so, many people who have bulging or herniated disks experience no pain from the condition.
  • Sciatica. If a bulging or herniated disk presses on the main nerve that travels down your leg, it can cause sciatica — sharp, shooting pain through the buttock and back of the leg.
  • Arthritis. The joints most commonly affected by osteoarthritis are the hips, hands, knees and lower back. In some cases arthritis in the spine can lead to a narrowing of the space around the spinal cord, a condition called spinal stenosis.
  • Skeletal irregularities. Back pain can occur if your spine curves in an abnormal way. If the natural curves in your spine become exaggerated, your upper back may look abnormally rounded or your lower back may arch excessively. Scoliosis, a condition in which your spine curves to the side, also may lead to back pain.
  • Osteoporosis. Compression fractures of your spine's vertebrae can occur if your bones become porous and brittle.

Rare but serious conditions
In rare cases, back pain may be related to:

  • Cauda equina syndrome. This is a serious neurological problem affecting a bundle of nerve roots that serve your lower back and legs. It can cause weakness in the legs, numbness in the "saddle" or groin area, and loss of bowel or bladder control.
  • Cancer in the spine. A tumor on the spine can press on a nerve, causing back pain.
  • Infection of the spine. If a fever and a tender, warm area accompany back pain, the cause could be an infection.
Risk factors

Factors that increase your risk of developing low back pain include:

  • Smoking
  • Obesity
  • Older age
  • Being female
  • Physically strenuous work
  • Sedentary work
  • Stressful job
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
Please make sure to discuss your individual symptoms as well as the suggested treatments with your health-care provider to determine the appropriate diagnostic and treatment plan for your circumstances.

Treatments and drugs

Most back pain gets better with a few weeks of home treatment and careful attention. A regular schedule of over-the-counter pain relievers may be all that you need to improve your pain. A short period of bed rest is OK, but more than a couple of days actually does more harm than good. If home treatments aren't working, your doctor may suggest stronger medications or other therapy.(video)

Medications
Your doctor is likely to recommend pain relievers such as acetaminophen (Tylenol, others) or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others) or naproxen (Aleve, others). If mild to moderate back pain doesn't get better with over-the-counter pain relievers, your doctor may also prescribe a muscle relaxant.

Narcotics, such as codeine or hydrocodone, may be used for a short period of time with close supervision by your doctor.

Low doses of certain types of antidepressants — particularly tricyclic antidepressants, such as amitriptyline — have been shown to relieve chronic back pain, independent of their effect on depression.

Physical therapy and exercise - http://www.divyeshweb.com/backpain.html
A physical therapist can apply a variety of treatments, such as heat, ice, ultrasound, electrical stimulation and muscle-release techniques, to your back muscles and soft tissues to reduce pain. As pain improves, the therapist can teach you specific exercises to increase your flexibility, strengthen your back and abdominal muscles, and improve your posture. Regular use of these techniques will help prevent pain from returning.

Injections
If other measures don't relieve your pain and if your pain radiates down your leg, your doctor may inject cortisone — an anti-inflammatory medication — into the space around your spinal cord (epidural space). A cortisone injection helps decrease inflammation around the nerve roots, but the pain relief usually lasts less than a few months.

In some cases, your doctor may inject numbing medication and cortisone into or near the structures believed to be causing your back pain, such as the facet joints of the vertebrae. Located on the sides, top and bottom of each vertebra, these joints connect the vertebrae to one another and stabilize the spine while still allowing flexibility.

Surgery
Few people ever need surgery for back pain. If you have unrelenting pain associated with radiating leg pain or progressive muscle weakness caused by nerve compression, you may benefit from surgical intervention. Otherwise, surgery usually is reserved for pain related to structural anatomical problems that haven't responded to intensive conservative therapy measures.

Understanding the cause of your back pain is the key to proper treatment. Because back pain is sometimes difficult to treat, a better understanding of the causes of this problem will assist patients in their recovery from back pain.

Trees Or Paper?

Trees are one of the main creations of God that play an important role to keep air clean. If there will be no fresh air available then how will human beings, animal, and birds survive? Therefore, a clean environment is the need for every living object on this earth. Many big organizations, schools, colleges, and NGOs are taking initiatives to save trees for a better future, clean air, and unpolluted environment, in short healthy life for living objects.

Today, trees are being cut with a great speed for full filling daily needs of human beings. It is true that we need to cut trees for our daily needs but cutting trees in such a furious way is leading towards a disaster. You might have noticed that as the number of trees is reducing; disasters are being continuously increasing, which is ultimately leading into high death rate. A big part of the trees is cut to make paper to help us do our personal and official works. If the use of paper will be minimized then we can save a large number of trees from being cut, which leads into healthy and clean environment that is fresh air and healthy life.

It is really a great idea to use paperless media to minimize the use of paper. Another initiative, which has been taken by schools, colleges, and universities in the increase in online examinations. Being a responsible human being, we all need to take some initiativesto protect environment.

If we intend to leave our children and grandchildren with the same standard of living we have enjoyed, we must preserve the foundation of that standard of living. We save for college educations, orthodontia, and weddings, but what about saving clean air for future generations - Trees Or Paper?

Please Visit:- http://www.divyeshweb.com (Videos)

Plant as much trees as possible.
Do not cut trees until there is an extreme need.
Prefer paperless communication instead of using paper. Make use of Internet and mobile phones to promote paperless communication.

Speed up Your Computer

Clean Temporary Files To Speed Up Your Computer
Windows
loves to write files all the time to your hard drive and until you run out of room on your hard drive or ask it to clean it up, it will leave old temporary files there. Windows XP comes with a handy program that cleans them up. To clean up temporary files on your hard drive with Windows XP, go to:

  • Start
  • Programs
  • Accessories
  • System Tools
  • Disk Cleanup

For other Windows operating systems you may have manually remove temporary files. To find out how, go to Windows help and searchfor "temporary files".

Clean Up Your Desktop To Speed Up Your Computer
Do y
ou have a lot of icons sitting on your desktop? These will slow up your computer. Having a clean desktop is important enough that Windows XP now asks you to clean up unused desktop icons. If you have ignored the prompt, you can either clean them up manually by right clicking your mouse on them and selecting delete or you can access the Windows XP program.

  • Start
  • Control Panel
  • Double-click "Display".
  • Click the "Desktop" tab.
  • Click the "Customize Desktop" button at the bottom.
  • Click the "General" tab.
  • Click the "Clean Desktop Now" button at the bottom.

This should speed up your computer.

Clean Your Inbox to Speed Up A Computer
If you are like me, I have my email program loaded and running all the time. I noticed that it is taking a long time to load and I think I figured out why. It is loading over a thousand messages. I cleaned out all the junk email and now it loads quick and my computer seems to run faster. All those messages ready to be showed at any given time seems to be taking up memory - valuable memory used up that causes a computer to run slow.

Defrag Your Computer to Speed It Up
Defragging your hard drive is so simple and you will be amazed at how fast your computer will run with it defragged. First, let me explain what fragmented files mean to your computer. When your computer stores a document, it starts to put the document in the first area of free space on your hard driv
e and then when it runs out of room there, it stores another part of the file on the next space available and so on, until the entire document is stored. One simple Word document may be stored in many different spots. When you access the fragmented document again, it has to go to all the spots on your hard drive, gather the information, put it together and then display it. If you have a lot of fragmented files it takes time for the computer to find the data. I was at 8% fragmentation which was below Windows threshold for a recommendation to defragment but after I ran the program the performance increase was very visible. The reason that I saw such an increase may be that the files that I use regularly may have been one of the few files that were fragmented. It will take a while to run defrag so you might want to leave this task for last (like before bed) and you should free up as much space as possible before defragging, but I list it first because it is so important.

To defrag your hard drive with Windows XP, go to:

  • Start
  • Programs
  • Accessories
  • SystemTools
  • Disk Defragmenter

Other Windows operating systems has the disk defragementer tool in a similar location. If you can't find it, go to Windows help and search for "defrag" to find out how to run it.

For best results before defragging, be sure to turn off your screen saver (control panel - display) and stop your computer from entering standby (control panel - display - power options).

Anti-Virus Software
Has your anti-virus software expired? That is something that should not be ignored and you need to remedy this immediately.

Today Or Tomorrow?

“One today is worth two tomorrows”.

“How?” onemight ask. We often complain that, if we had a little more time, we could have done this we could have done that. Words, words, merely lazy words. Instead of utilizing the time we have, we just wander like nomads who have no perfect destinations of their own.

A friend of Albert Einstein asked the renowned mathematician if he would take a break from his busy schedule and allow a visit. As it was the friend’s first visit to the area, he asked Einstein to show him around. It was decided that Einstein would act as the friend’s tour guide, starting at the Planetarium. Einstein was supposed to wait for his friend at a particular bridge.

The friend then realized it would be wrong to ask Einstein to wait, as the great scientist’s time was very precious. So the friend volunteered to wait at the bridge for Einstein to arrive. Einstein delightfully disagreed, saying that waiting was not a problem as that would give him ample time to formulate a formula and solve a problem relating to it.

Moral: Never leave anything for tomorrow or later, when we can do it at this moment.

Peace Of Mind

A teacher and his student were walking from one village to another, when they suddenly heard a roar behind them. Turning their gaze in the direction of the roar they saw a big tiger following them. The first thing the student wanted to do was to run away, but as he has been studying and practicing self-discipline, he was able to halt himself, waiting to see what his teacher was going to do.

"What shall we do Master?" asked the student. The teacher looked at the student and answered in a calm voice:
"There are several options. We can fill our minds with paralyzing fear so that we cannot move, and let the tiger do with us whatever pleases it. We can faint. We can run away, but then it will run after us. We can fight with it, but physically it is stronger than us”. "We can pray to god to save us. We can choose to influence the tiger with the power of our mind, if our concentration is strong enough. We can send it love. We can also concentrate and meditate on our inner power, and on the fact that we are one with the entire universe, including the tiger, and in this way influence its soul."
"Which option do you choose?" "You are the Master. You tell me what to do. We do not have much time", responded the student.

The master turned his gaze fearlessly towards the tiger, emptied his mind from all thoughts, and entered samadhi (a kind of trance). In his consciousness he embraced everything in the universe including the tiger. In this deep meditation the consciousness of the teacher became one with consciousness of the tiger. Meanwhile the student started to shiver with fear, as the tiger was already quite close, ready to make a leap at them. He was amazed at how his teacher could stay so calm and detached in the face of danger.

Meanwhile the teacher continued to meditate without fear. After a little while, the tiger gradually lowered its head and tail and went away.

The student asked his teacher in astonishment, "What did you do?"

"Nothing. I just cleared all thoughts from my mind and united myself in spirit with the tiger. We became united in peace on the spiritual level. The tiger sensed the inner calmness, peace, and unity and felt no threat or need to express violence, and so walked away."

Conclusion: "When the mind is silent and calm, its peace is automatically transmitted to everything and everyone around, influencing them deeply".
